Club Game Day

CA Announces "Club Game Day"

CA United is pleased to announce that on Saturday, April 30 th, we will be hosting our First Annual Club Game Day at the Kenneth Hope Soccer Complex in Lansing. This exciting event is designed to showcase all the best that CA United has to offer: great soccer, great coaching, commitment to the community, and a whole lot of fun. The day will feature a club-wide tailgate party, special clinics for players and coaches, a used soccer equipment collection, and a special scholarship presentation. Throughout the day, CA United Premier teams will be playing high-level matches against other top clubs from throughout the state. Whether you are affiliated with CA United, the Capital Area Soccer League (CASL), or just a fan of soccer, this is a day you won’t want to miss! Details about all of the day’s events follow:

Club Tailgate:
CA United will be hosting a day-long tailgate party for players and fans alike. Each player on every CA United team playing that day will receive 2 lunch tickets. Each ticket is good for 1 hot dog, 1 bag of chips, 1 drink, and one dessert. Additionally, each player from the opposing team will be provided with 1 lunch ticket. Additional tickets will be available for purchase at the cost of $1 each.

CASL Players Clinic:
CA United coaches will conduct a CASL players’ clinic from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Kenneth Hope Field #6. All CASL players are eligible to attend.

CASL Coaches Clinic:
CA United Director of Coaching Aaron Smith will conduct a CASL coaches clinic from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Kenneth Hope Field #5. All CASL coaches are welcome to attend.

Kick It Again - Used Soccer Equipment Collection:
At the Game Day, CA United will launch the Kick It Again program.  Kick It Again looks to collect “slightly used” soccer equipment that will be redistributed to Lansing area kids who show a financial need and want to play soccer.  Kick It Again will collect slightly used cleats, indoor shoes, shin guards and soccer balls.  There will be a collection site set up near Field #5.  All questions about the Kick It Again program should be directed to Scott Dane at captainbaco@hotmail.com.

Doug DeRose Memorial Scholarship Presentation:
At Game Day we will also be awarding the Doug DeRose Scholarship. The Doug DeRose Scholarship is awarded annually to one boy and one girl on a current CA United U14 team. Applications will be reviewed an awards made based on some of the many wonderful qualities Doug brought to CA United, including determination, positive attitude, fair play, support of teammates, love for soccer, a sense of humor, and overall citizenship. This is not intended as a needs-based scholarship. Scholarship recipients may use their awards for any soccer-related activity, ranging from club fees and soccer camps to training and GLASRA referee certification fees. Donations to the Doug DeRose Scholarship fund can also be made at any time by contacting Pat Wolf at pwolf@acm.org. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
