U9-U12 Fancy Footwork Camps I, II and III
These camps will give your player the knowledge and the tools to become successful in 1 v 1 situations. Through continued practice at home, in team training and games, your player will begin to develop a new level of confidence controlling the ball and attacking his or her defender.
All though benefits will be gained by attending any one of these sessions, it is highly encouraged that you sign up for all three camps.
Fancy Footwork I (June 23-26 9am-12pm) - Changes of Direction
Registration Deadline: June 1
- Series 1 of the Fancy Footwork Progression, Changes of Direction, teaches your player how to use basic cut moves and changes of direction to beat their opponent. The Inside Cut, Outside Cut, and the Slap Cut are the basic moves and foundation of all 1 v 1 skills. These simple cuts are often the most effective against a defender when correctly executed with speed and explosiveness. Other changes of direction using all surfaces of the foot will be taught as well.
Fancy Footwork II (July 28-31 9am-12pm) - Stops and Starts
Registration Deadline: June 14
- Series 2 of the Fancy Footwork Progression, Stops and Starts, teaches your player how to exaggerate a change of pace in order to unbalance their defender in a 1 v 1 situation. Soccer is a dynamic game filled with explosive sprints and deceptive slows...it is a game where the pace of play within an individual and the team is constantly changing. Many young players play the game at one speed. Learning how to control and manipulate these stops and starts will improve your player’s ability to impact the game.
Fancy Footwork III (August 11-14 9am-12pm) - Fakes and Feints
Registration Deadline: July1
- Series 3 of the Fancy Footwork Progression, Fakes and Feints, teaches your player how to mask their moves and passes by using their body movements. As players develop, the defenders they must beat become smarter and more aggressive, this is when deception and unpredictability are crucial to 1 v 1 success. When learned and used properly these deceptive fakes and feints will enable your player to become more threatening as an attacker on the field.
Payment and Discounts
The cost of the fancy footwork camps is $50 per player per camp for CA United players and $60 per player per camp for non CA United Players. The multi camp discount applies to players signing up for two or more camps. A deposit of $30 (or you may pay in full) is required with your registration. Registrations postmarked after their respective deadlines must be paid in full plus a $15 late fee.
Goalkeeper Camps I - June 23-26 2pm-5pm and II - August 11-14 2pm-5pm
No other position in sport requires such a combination of consistency, excellence and leadership. Courage, confidence, leadership, consistency and sometimes even crazy, these are all words used to describe a soccer goalkeeper. This is without a doubt one of the most demanding and mentally challenging positions in all of sports.
Saving goals, from shot stopping to dealing with crosses, distribution to organizing the defense, the responsibilities of the goalkeeper extend far beyond just standing between the posts. To be effective, they must participate in the prevention of the development of goal scoring chances inside and outside of the penalty area. Great goalkeepers must be mentally and tactically involved during the entire game no matter what the involvement.
At both goalkeeper camps I and II, goalkeepers will learn not only the technical skills needed to be successful but also tactical knowledge learned from playing in the goal in game like situations. All under the guidance of a goalkeeper coach, with the emphases on coaching the player from in the goal and not from the sideline.
A goalkeeper camp without the ability to create realistic game situations involving real strikers can produce practice goalkeepers. They may be able to put on a show, but could buckle when confronted with decision making during a live game. The ability to make the proper decision then apply the tactical knowledge along with automatic technical ability means the difference between success and picking the ball out of the back of the net.
That is why this goalkeeper camp has no equal; they have been combined with a striker camp and a finishing camp. Each camp lesson finishes with game like situations combining the strikers and goalkeepers. Using small sided games in front of full size goals keeps the goalkeeper involved the entire time, forcing them to make decision after decision in quick succession. Each goalkeeper will constantly have to make adjustments not only for themselves, but for the players in front of them, will keep them on their edge.
Goalkeepers are encouraged to experiment in practice to increase their range and test their limits. Goalkeepers who know their strengths and weaknesses will not foolishly place their team at risk, and will become consistent, safe and dependable. What more can you ask? At both goalkeeper camps each goalkeeper is faced with thousands of decisions and hundreds of shots. Each learns how to take pleasure in the most difficult practices, how to concentrate in the loneliness of the position and most of all, how to become a success at the most demanding position in team sport.
The curriculum for both camps will focus on the demands of the position, including techniques, tactics, mental skills and the physical dimension.

Striker’s Camp - June 23-26 2pm-5pm
Learn what it takes to become soccer's most precious commodity - a goal scorer! Killer instinct, responsibility, technical proficiency, commitment, these are all words used to describe a goal scorer. These are all attributes of the most desired player in soccer, someone that can score goals consistently. At the Striker Camp you will learn what these words mean and how to apply them to your game. This camp is about scoring goals! Learn the attacking skills necessary to give your team the edge.
We encourage shooting at every opportunity so the player understands it is okay to miss. The key is to keep shooting! We will allow the player to learn from mistakes by giving positive feedback and instilling confidence in their ability. Teaching players that shooting is good!
We will give you the opportunity to take 1000 shots. The Striker camp is focused on finishing of all types. Power & placement shooting, headers, volleys, toe pokes, combination play to create space, penalty kicks, corner kicks and more! If you can imagine it, we will cover it.
At the Striker Camp we try to create a complete goal scorer so they are prepared for every situation. We focus on technical preparation and then apply it to a tactical situation. Creating a functional training environment that recreates the pressure of the game. Placing the camper in small groups, forces the player to get involved and take responsibility in finishing. We do not let players hide and just watch the game. We teach them to be composed on the ball in tight situations so they do not panic.
Scoring goals is the final element to a game with many elements. Chances are rare and it is the player that can take those precious chances and put the ball in the net that can make a difference in a game. No matter what has happened during a game it all comes down to who scores the most.
A week at the Striker Camp is a week of realization and success. Every player can score hundreds of goals. Every player gains a new sense of what is possible. Every player begins to learn what it takes to become soccer's most precious commodity - a goal scorer!

Mid-Fielder and Defender Camp - July 7-10 2pm-5pm
While the strikers are the glory hounds of every team, the mid-fielders and defenders are the backbone of the team, the machine that allows the strikers to sit up front and poach the glory!
At the mid-fielder and defender camp, the work horses of the team will be taught the techniques and tactics of their positions. Combination play, changing the point of attack, possession, counter attacking, defending in groups are just a few of the topics that will be covered, along with all of the requisite technical skills necessary to carry out these tasks.
The camp will also focus on the physical and mental demands of both positions. We will cover when and why to possess or counter attack, when and how to get involved in the attack, and decision making in the middle and defensive thirds of the field.
While these positions do not get all of the glory that the strikers do, no team can win without competent and skillful mid-fielders, and solid, intelligent defenders. The strikers cannot get the glory with out first getting the ball from their teammates!
